Ko-Uta

Ko-Uta

Peter MacIntosh is the first non-Japanese man to gain the prestigeous "Nattori" in the Yanagi Ko-Uta style of singing. Ko-Uta is a style of traditional singing that the geisha use. It is accompanied by the three-stringed lute called a "Shamisen". His sensei is a former geisha, and he performs at the same events at the geisha and maiko themselves.
